Happy Friday Deal from Stark Skincare!!
It’s happened, folks, as surely some of you guessed (and hoped) that it would. Stark, the Canadian-born brand and fast rising star of the naturals world, is here with a Friday Deal and we couldn’t be more excited. It was just back in March that we discovered Stark—it’s actually just about its half-year bday—and wrote a glowing review, celebrating the brand’s super-clean and simple ingredients, product feel and effectiveness, along with its crafty-cool bottle design (SO cute, non?) and sensible prices (especially since a little goes a long way with this stuff). Founder Jessica Lafleur, has become a regular and awesome voice in the NMDL community and is now a bonafide internet friend—one we look forward to having a coffee with one day in Montreal.
But enough with story time, yeah? Stark is coming out with a bang: A site-wide discount that you’re actually allowed to combine with existing deal sets like the whole shebang, city slickers and clarity seekers. So onto business:
Stark is offering you guys, our dear readers, 15% off the entire site when you use the promo code “nodirty.” As mentioned, this will be added to existing deal sets on there—and don’t be confused, the promo code part will happen as step 2 of 2, after you’re directed to the Paypal page.
Note that there are only four products, and they’re all awesome, making for a complete and kind skincare regimen that focuses on hydration and bacteria-fighting actives like willow bark and green-tea clay. If you’ve tried Stark already please share your experience and reviews in the comments!
Oh, and Canada: This bud’s for you. A deal you can call your own, with no U.S. shipping conundrums. Can we get an amen? Canadians also get FREE SHIPPING over $65, and for the rest of us it’s over $75!
The deal will run through the week.
And in other exciting news: It’s the weekend, and we’re going to throw our feet up and enjoy this one. It’s been kind of a big week for us here chez NMDL. On Thursday we broke 100,000 uniques on the site, which (needless to say) wouldn’t have happened without you guys. And just yesterday afternoon Refinery 29 named us one of their favorite beauty blogs. And to top it off with a deal from Stark? Well, we’re just happy as clams.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Yay! So excited, I bought The Whole Shebang and can’t wait to try it all! And as a fellow Canuck I need to let out a big WOOT WOOT to see a Canadian company on here!
Congrats NMDL! You guys are the best.!..We’ve all benefited so much from what you created here that any accolades coming your way are well deserved, really.
Enjoy your weekend:)
I have tried stark before and loved it! so glad about this deal… but for some reason i can’t figure out where to put the promo code…
oh hah. read the instructions.
Thank you NMDL! Thank you Stark! I just placed my first order and I am so excited to try the Stark Skincare line. This is such great timing for me, too! Earlier this week, I sent Jessica an email with some questions about her products and also asked for her advice about a couple of skin issues. She turned it into a blog post to open up the discussion. Check it out! http://www.blog.starkskincare.com – I hope it’s okay to link to another blog. We’re all friends here, right? What am I talking about … you’re featuring her products! Of course it’s okay!
I have been waiting for this ever since it was hinted at in an earlier blog post… I’m thrilled to try the Whole Shebang!!
Oh thank you for this! The cleansing balm & cypress oil have been on my list for a while, and I just bought them! I can’t wait to get my hands on them. All the products look amazing, and Jessica seems like such a delightful human being, this just seems like a nice company to support.
Hi guys! Thanks for the comments and orders so far! You’re giving me a workout!
I’m getting lots of little messages about the promo code placement. I know…it’s in such a weird spot.
So once you fill your shopping bag full of goodies, you go to the Paypal checkout (or the green checkout button…they go to the same place, really) and once you’re in Paypal you do your PayPal or credit card thing (login or payment info), press continue, then you can enter in promo codes on the next screen, once you are in the payment section.
It’s in step 2/2 in PayPal, where you can also choose your shipping options, etc.
Hope that’s a little clearer!
Awesome! If I hadn’t just ordered a whole shebang a couple of weeks ago, I’d be all over this. Still resisting the urge to stockpile, though. I’m in love with the smell of the cy oil (Jessica, if you ever make a solid perfume of that, I will be first in line, haha.) Yay for awesome indie Canadian companies!
OH! Also, I just threw this up on my site (ok…that doesn’t sound right)
Here’s the new product…coming soon!

@NMDL, as a courtesy, would it be possible to add something to differentiate comments left by same-name visitors?
My comment, left at 10:10am was followed by two (10:40 & 10:43am) that as they appear, seem to be mine as well.
Thanks!
@nancy. As a blog-runner myself, I think the onus is on the commenter to differentiate themselves. It can get a little tricky when you have many comments to manage (as a site with 100 000 unique page views would have!)
Also, you should update your gravatar. Actually, everyone should do this. It’s what allows you to have a pic beside your name. https://en.gravatar.com/
Just my 2 cents.
@ Sarah B. Ooh! Perfume, you say….I can’t say that I haven’t been tempted to get into it. Um, meaning, I’ve really been thinking about it.
I do make my own perfume all the time, and came up with a deliciously different scent that I almost don’t want to share! :) But I probably will. It’s being added to the long list of Stark to-do’s!
Thanks Jessica! It’s true what we can’t change your user names for you, so if you want to differentiate yourself from the other people with your same name, please use a last initial or a picture! :)
@ Jessica, thanks for your 2 cents
I can definitely see and understand the difficulty to manage and moderate so many comments ..I would have thought that a feature(or a fix) could be added to the “leave a comment section” to prevent doubles.. Something to the effect that would indicate upon input that a name had already been taken. But again, no blog-expert here and far from internet savvy too..
Next step, differentiate myself :) Suggestions welcome!
Aaaaaaaamazing! I’ve only tried the GF balm so far and obviously I looooooooove it. It’s unreal smelling, like chocolate oranges but even better. Chocolate grapefruit I guess… Super moisturizing, luxurious and cleansing. And of course, love love love Canadian things! Love to NMDL ladies and Stark!
Amen!!
I actually just ordered the whole shebang a few weeks ago and so far I am loving it. My skin feels super soft and smooth! I haven’t actually tried the grapefruit balm as a cleanser yet (trying to finish off a juice beauty I had going), but have used it a few times for extra moisturization. A little definitely goes a long way – which is awesome! I may have to order some more of the witch hazel and cypress oil, since they’ll likely be gone first and I can’t say no to a deal!
@Jessica That sounds awesome! And doesn’t surprise me. :) I love creating my own little blends too.
@Susannah- I have some of the same sensitivities as you (I was using a serum that was in a base of fractionated coconut oil and my face basically went \Oh, hell, no!\ and went berserk. Coconut oil and shea butter can give me awful milia sometimes too). I’ve been using the grapefruit balm as a makeup remover / cleanser for over a month now, and it hasn’t caused any of those problems for me! It definitely might still be worth a try.
I’m so excited! Just ordered The Whole Shebang, and am really curious to find out how they stack up against my current faves (Suti Cleanse and Lina Hanson serum). After reading all the glowing comments, I have a feeling I’m really going to enjoy them. Thanks NMDL, and thanks Stark!
Sounds so tempting, I’m thinking over what I’m going to order. My son has products that work to help his puberty ravaged skin (John Masters), but he is so inconsistent with using them. Maybe if he has some things that smell really good he’ll be more likely to use them without me having to bug him. He also hates to have water on his face so maybe that cleansing balm is just the thing.
Glad to see a deal that suits the Canadians. I’ve been visiting Vancouver all week and people are just super nice up here. Is it that way everywhere in Canada??
Oh Stark is my FAVORITE!!! I can’t even begin to ennumerate all the wonderful things it’s done for my skin! Seeing as I’m just now running out of my gf cleansing balm (incredible) so I am all over this deal!
@Sarah B. thanks for sharing your experience with the GF! I didn’t order it but plan to try it out at some point because it sounds so lovely. Worth the risk!
@Rebecca, Ya, we’re really all that nice :) Glad you’re enjoying Vancouver; it’s beautiful, especially when it stops raining…
other nancy here… i would have differentiated but the comments are moderated so at the time that i left mine, i didn’t see yours.
I love you all so much!
I had to get my dad up here (he lives in Ottawa, I’m in Montreal) to help with all the shipping! I get to pay him in beer in chips, and he makes me tomato sandwiches, so it’s nice. :)
@ Nancy #2, thank you for differentiating:)
@ Jessica, you better keep your dad around a little longer..I’ll be placing my order later.
All the best!
I’ve been using a brightening cleanser from Apothederm http://apothederm.com/shop-products/brightening-acne/brightening-cleanser/ and it’s been working wonders on my skin this summer!
The promo code still works for anyone who is still interested :)
sounds easy
hey everyone,
Just wanted to share how I’m currently treating my keloid. I developed a keloid about a year ago from a surgery I had to remove a cyst. It’s about 1 and a half inches long and about 1/3 of a inch wide. It’s also 3-4 shades darker than my complexion.
I went to Ulta about 2 weeks ago and saw this product called ScarAway. It’s like a silicone sheet. You’re supposed to wear the sheet for 12 weeks. I’m finished week 1 but I definitely saw a change. I’m approaching week 2 now.
I have before and after pictures on my blog “Purging Pretty” (didn’t want to post the link so yall would feel like I’m spam. You can just google the blog if you like.
But It really has shrunk a little in size and has lightened up. I really can’t wait to see how it looks on week 12.
