Happy Friday Deal from Kahina Giving Beauty!
After a wee hiatus, one of our absolute favorite brands is back on the Friday Deal scene today. They’d like to introduce everyone to their Facial Cleanser, which has been slightly updated, is now Ecocert-certified, and is even more gentle-in-a-good-way than before. They’re so sure we’re all going to get hooked—we’ll be trying it with the rest of y’all, how we haven’t yet is a bit of a mystery—that they’re offering a generous travel-sized version with any purchase. But on top of that goodness, they’re doing a site-wide discount. Is it us, or these deals just keep getting better?
OK, details! Get a 15% discount on absolutely anything in the Kahina store, along with your free travel-sized cleanser. All you have to do is enter the promo code FREE15 at checkout and the deal and gift will be applied automatically. This will run the full week too, so booya to that! (Note: The image above is the full size version.)
And don’t forget to share with your friends, if your a Kahina user, what you like from this line.
As many of you know, Kahina Giving Beauty makes incredibly clean, incredibly high-quality products using one of our most loved ingredients: argan oil. They also go above protocol to help improve the lives of the women of the Berber community that they work with. Just a little info, in case this is your first rodeo.
Happy Friday, loves!

The cleanser has been a must-have for me since I discovered it a year or so ago. I’m concerned about the change in scent as described on the Kahina site – I loved that the old version really didn’t smell like much of anything to me. I would describe it as unscented. The new description sounds like it will smell flowery, which would be awful for me (I usually react badly to anything flowery except lavender). Has anyone tried the new version? I was about to buy 2 in the full size before I noticed the change in scent.
I just ordered this last week from SBL with last Fridays Deal and I absolutely love it!
Question for Kahina people: How has the cleanser been updated? Also, what would you recommend for acne (beyond the argan oil, which I use and love)?
Thank you!!
Missed the SBL deal last week. arrggghh!! The shipping is a little much on the kahina website :-(
but thank you Siobhan and Alex for doing such a fantastic job. Will look out for SBL deals in the future!
Hi ladies! Thanks for stopping by with your questions + comments.
@Rebecca- the cleanser scent isn’t “flowery”- just slightly more herbal and less orange-y. The scent is not overwhelming at all, in my opinion. I understand your concern; I would never want a flowery, overpowering ANYTHING near my face.
For those that want a rundown of this formulation, see our blog: http://kahina-givingbeauty.com/blog/blog/kahina-facial-cleanser-reformulated-to-meet-certified-organic-standards/
Active ingredients are still there like papaya and willow bark. Argan Oil is there as well. It’s a little milkier and it spreads better over the face (I’ve noticed). Our chemist attributes this better spreading to its crystalline structure. This cleanser has been in our Travel Basics for some time now, actually.
@a ABSOLUTELY! The willow bark is a natural, non-irritating salicin, which helps with acne, as do the papaya enzymes, which help dissolve dead skin cells which can block pores. I’m acne-prone and LOVE this cleanser!
@danielle – glad you love it! :) Thanks for sharing.
Note for everyone: this cleanser (like its predecessor) is PHENOMENAL with the Clarisonic, if you use one.
I’m here for more questions, should you have them.
Also curious about how the cleanser has been updated and how it is more gentle.
I’ve loved this cleanser but lately it has actually been too harsh for my newly insanely sensitive and dry acne-prone skin (so! much! fun!). It’s great in the summer though!
@ a– I too have acne prone skin and love the the Kahina cleanser, argan oil and mask. Haven’t tried the new cleanser yet, but am curious. I have super sensitive skin, so an even gentler cleanser sounds great. FYI, on the Kahina site the only product not recommended for acne prone skin is the serum.
@a, here’s a link describing the change: http://kahina-givingbeauty.com/faq/
Love, love, LOVE this cleanser! Seriously the best by far of all the clean and not-clean cleansers I’ve ever tried and belive me, I’ve tried tons.
Delighted with today’s deal as I have been meaning to get some more argan oil – I’ve found it works wonders on what I think are eczema patches and nothing else seems be quite as effective. The oil is also one of my “desert island” products – especially when I’m travelling and don’t want to check a bag, it is truly one of the most versatile products I’ve found.
Thnak you!! I will try the antioxidant mask and get more argan oil and eye cream. I originally thought the eye cream wouldn’t be worth the price because I’ve always been indifferent to other eye creams, but I actually really like it. Thank you for the deal!!!
The cleanser is a lot more gentle than before, yet very nice. My favorite Kahina product is the toner, that stuff is just amazing. It leaves my skin super hydrated, fresh, and supple.
ha HA!! So I was leaving for my honeymoon, which was just two months ago, and I bopped out to grab a Kahina travel basics kit to pack for the trip. I’ve used all Kahina products for some time now, so I was used to the old formula for the cleanser and had no idea there was even a new one floating around out there. There I am, in the shower (a wonderful alfresco rain shower btw!) and I whip out the travel sized cleanser, squirt, and start to massage onto my face…hmm…weird…this definitely feels different. It definitely smells different too. Maybe this is a mistake, I think. I pick up the bottle to make sure that it’s the cleanser and not the lotion and lo and behold it is indeed the cleanser. I was so confused I didn’t use it the rest of the honeymoon thinking that it was some sort of accident when bottling. HAHA!! WELLLLLL this explains it all!!!
I haven’t used it since because of the reasons above, but at least now I know why it feels and smells so different. Anyone else used the new formula for an extended period of time?

Sort of side tracking a litttle bit here, but couldn’t resist to tell you again: this blog, and your book, and everything you are doing totally rock! THANK YOU Siobhan, THANK YOU Alexandra!!!
Kahina Giving Beauty is such a beautiful company and my most favorite product of theirs is the toning mist. Pure bliss to my facial skin. I love the slight rose water smell. My skin is so calm, hydrated, glowing with it.. So, THANK YOU Kahina Giving Beauty.
I’m so happy that I’ve found you all and shudder to think of where I’d be if our paths hadn’t crossed! (A friend of mine showed me an article about your book in GOOD magazine a few summers ago). I’m a very content clean beauty girl.
Have a great weekend!
Did I not have enough coffee this morning, or do they not seem to ship to Canada? Help! :)
Thank you everyone for the love & sharing your experiences with others. The NMDL community is something else.
@Alyssa – I hear you. I’d definitely recommend at some point trying this new version as people really seem to notice it’s less irritating. It has an aloe vera base, which may be a big part of it.
@Lauren – hurray! It’s so tricky finding products that make skin happy, so I’m glad Kahina is working for you. Thanks for sharing; it helps others pick out what might work for them.
@Naomi – What a major compliment :) Danke! I’ve tried countless cleansers, and keep coming back to good old Kahina, too.
@a – A little partial here, but I love the Eye Cream too. I think you’re going to like the Mask. Smells yum & doesn’t make your face all red.
@Liiz – thanks for weighing in & sharing with other readers :)
@Amy – couldn’t agree with you more; three cheers for Alex, Siobhan, & NMDL
Long time lurker, 1st time posting…also am going to make my 1st Kahina order. Wondering if anyone has tried the daytime moisturizer? I am eyeing the eye cream but am wondering if it’s worth the splurge. For those who use it, what benefits to your skin have you observed?
I am sad to say I am quite disappointed by the new Kahina facial cleanser. I’ve been using the original version for about 6 months and just bought a new bottle (good to note: one bottle lasts a really long time so don’t be put off by price). The delicious smell from before is gone, the oh-so-light scrub is also gone. When I am done with this bottle, I will not buy it again. :( Very sad.
I do admire the ethics of this company, but the change in product is too much for me. Also, I am experiencing some bad acne (peri-menopausal nightmare), and I find the milky based cleanser may not be the best for me.
Definitely recommend the company, but not excited by the facial cleanser change in formula.
@car, I am seriously bummed by the change in the facial cleanser as well. I realized that the unopened bottle I had waiting was the new formula so I’m trying it but so far not thrilled. I also miss the scent and texture of the old formula, and the new doesn’t remove my eye makeup like the old one did. I do like the feel of my skin after though. I’m dealing with the perimenopausal acne too – so unfair – I highly recommend getting some turmeric in your diet, and try capsules if it’s not convenient to eat it every day. It’s a great anti-inflammatory, and helps me with both skin and excessive cramping that happens at perimenopause.
@Jacqueline, I tried the day lotion when I first started using Kahina. I liked it fine, but I prefer using the straight argan oil on my face. If you are looking for a light lotion, this would be a good one to try.
i adore kahina . my skin has never been happier . try it if you are considering it . i love the serum and lotion !! and they are lovely to deal with .
Side note–in the post there’s a word deletion (” Is it us, or these deals just keep getting better?”) and a grammatical error (your/you’re–”If your a Kahina user”). Thought I’d give a heads up since y’all are usually so on the ball!
i love love their cleanser. but was seriously disappointed by the eye serum. really had no effect and I switched back to the 100% pure coffee eye cream.
might try the lotion though. the face wash is so gentle and keeps my skin so clear. I really think that my skin was acne prone just because of the harsh chemicals in unclean products as described in your book. Crazy.

I love the new cleanser! The old one irritated by skin but I’ve been using the new one and I adore it!
I love Kahina Argan Oil and their cleanser, although I can only vouch for the old version which I really liked.Thankfully I had stocked on it and have 1 unopened bottle..
And just as Larisa comented, their eye serum didn’t work for me. The best way to describe it is that it “sits” on the area as on the days I play with some concealer (and this hours after having applied the eye serum) there is always this residue that comes loose, much like the remains one gets when using an eraser on a piece of paper…weird. I tried applying a tiny bit blaming of the amount I was using but I get the same results every time. I will continue to use it until I run out but won’t be buying it again. I may try the eye cream next time..
I have the Argan oil and find that it leaks out from bottle. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the bottle though. Does anyone else have this problem?
@b , I’ve bought a number of bottles of Kahina Argan Oil (always the 100ml) over the past and have never had any problems with… maybe your bottle suffered a small accident before reaching you?Wouldn’t transfering the oil to another bottle/container help you out? The oil is well worth the effort:)
New to the line (have used the cleanser though), can anyone give feedback on the Argan oil, facial serum, and eye cream? Is the Argan oil moisturizing enough on its own for normal-to-dry skin? Does it wear under makeup well?
How does the Facial Serum compare to the Argan oil? I haven’t found many reviews on the Serum.
And, has anyone seen results using the eye cream? I find I buy eye creams, they are nice products, but I don’t see any difference in my skin.
I know I’m definitely getting the cleanser and toner. I have to figure out which product to select for moisturizing/treating fine lines. I can only budget for two products in this category (as much as I’d love to try them all!).
it must be my bottle…i will make the switch…thanks!
@Jacqueline, I love Kahina’s argan oil. I have “mature” fairly dry skin and I use a toner and a couple of drops of argan oil under my mineral makeup. It’s perfect! I love the plain argan oil for hair as well. I have not tried the serum, I prefer fewer ingredients. The eye cream is fine as eye cream goes, it’s nice, but I’m not much for eye creams generally speaking.
@ Jacqueline, go for the Argan Oil. You won’t regret! I have combination to oily skin and I love it. I was even able to cut the number of products I use with it (no serums or moisturizers needed) Your skin will tell you how much to use…if absorbs nicely, that is the right amount for you. On don’t be put off by the price of the larger bottle..it will last you for a very long time. Hope it helps!
Hi Ladies, Kahina here!
Again- thank you so much for your feedback and helping each other with your own personal experiences! I know when I buy beauty products, the #1 thing I look for is how other people have liked (or not) the product.
Some like our new cleanser, some prefer the older version. The goal of our promotion was to have you try it so you can see what you think :)
@b – if you need any assistance (bottle shouldn’t be leaking), you can email us at info@givingbeauty.com
And to all- we just launched our new website, which we’re so happy with! There you can find many resources including testimonials, recommended routine, and more. We’re still working on it, but it’s mostly complete. Hope you love it as much as we do!
I just have to say I LOVE the new website, very clean and pretty. and I am excited to try the new cleanser.
