Today is the Last Day to Start Our Vegan-for-a-Week Challenge
Nom nom nom! You should see what I just ate for lunch: so vegan and so delicious. We’re happy to report that after a few false starts our vegan challenges are underway—and we hope yours are too. We announced it last week, we gave you some food pyramid tips, Alexandra talked L.A. vegan, and I felt left out so I asked for New York tips. It’s all been very interactive and fun.
We’ve already been flooded with vegan recipes (thank you, earlybirds) but have you sent us YOURS yet? Have you even STARTED yet? If not, get to it! It has to be 7 days in a row, and the deadline is Wednesday which means:
It’s time to veg out, you guys! The winner will get a bunch of coconut milk, creamer and ice cream freebie coupons from So Delicious!

I started on Monday… so far so good!
I might want to stretch it after Sunday, to see how far I can push myself!
I’ve been off the cow -meat- for over 5 years now, and do not consume dairy as much…
I just need to get rid of bacon, chicken, turkey and fish…
I don’t know about eggs though, or goat/sheep cheese… these are going to be a bit harder to give up.
For anyone on the fence or uncommitted (like me, for instance), this from the LA Times today:
. . . .Nearly half of all meat and poultry sampled in a new study contained drug-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus, the type of bacteria that most commonly causes staph infections. Such infections can take many forms, from a minor rash to pneumonia or sepsis. But the findings are less about direct threats to humans than they are about the risks of using antibiotics in agriculture . . .
