Happy Friday Deal from Kahina Giving Beauty! [UPDATE!]

TGIF, are we right? Well here’s something: Another week has passed, and another deal is upon us. And this one is really pretty sweet.

So far these Fridays have been quite the adventure. There’s been a little controversy, and some Mercury-retrograde-style technical difficulties, but all in all we’re having a really good time and it seems like you guys are too. It’s been great to hear your feedback, and we’re especially happy to be facilitating an open and direct dialogue between companies and consumers. Transparency at its best.

This week’s amazingness is from Kahina Giving Beauty, a brand that is very close to our hearts. Not only did we swoon for Kahina’s ethically sourced organic argan oil from very early on (and later for the eye cream), we quickly became friends with the company’s founder Katharine L’Heureux, a kind, elegant and funny woman who even thew us a book party at her loft back in August (!). But that’s not why we say nice things about her or her line. We truly, authentically love it from the perspective of sustainability, ethics, packaging, and performance.

We adore so many of their products—full range pictured above—which is why this week’s deal is especially exciting: Kahina is offering a gobsmacking 25% off anything you order, and if your total (after discount) is more than $50, they’ll throw in a free cleanser automatically, too. They have NEVER done a deal like this—and who knows if they will again. All you have to do is enter promo code NMDL25 at checkout to get your discount.

If you’ve missed some of our past coverage of Kahina Giving Beauty you can read it here. We’re also planning a review of their new Toning Mist in the coming weeks. (Here’s the preview: It’s bananas. And Siobhan loves Alexandra so much that she left her mist in Los Angeles for her—but only because she had another at home. Ha!).

Enjoy your weekend and help us spread the word on this one! It will last until next Friday.

THIS is the one I’ve been waiting for! Kahina Argan Oil is a can’t-live-without item for me. As I’ve worked with my routine I’ve cut down on overall spending and this is what I save the $ for. I would use argen on its own anyway, but I found a way to simplify my routine. I need skin lightening actives for the damage that occurred in the years before I took great care of my skin, but ditched my mostly-clean lightener due to phenoxyethanol. Now I order licorice, bearberry, arbutin, and green tea from skinactives.com (learned this from the book!), mix them into the argan, and it REALLY works. I can barely see the brownish patches anymore after a couple months of use, even when I’m not wearing make-up. The oil is just the right touch for my “maturing” and dry skin, smells lightly nutty and wears well under my mineral make-up.

I use Kahina facial cleanser too. Neutral scent that doesn’t stick around, absolutely no tightness afterward, washes off my make-up including mascara gently and thoroughly. And they have great customer service. It would be nice if the website was set up to send a tracking number when they ship, maybe they’ll do that at some point.

  2. Kahina Team says:

    Hi Rebecca,

Thank you so much for your support! We’re thrilled to hear that Kahina is producing visible results for your skin. Glad to know you’re using the cleanser- it contains papaya extract which performs daily, light enzymatic exfoliation- will definitely help in your skin-tone-balancing pursuit!

We’re working on the tracking number automatic email. Keep checking back… we have exciting things on the horizon for our site :)

  3. Aileen says:

Spirit Beauty Lounge just posted a blog about face serum, and Kahina’s was listed as good for acne-scarred skin… Coincidentally, the very issue I’ve bemoaning lately. Thanks for the deal!!

  4. Kahina Team says:

    Hi Aileen,

Don’t you love Spirit Beauty Lounge? Just a note about our Serum– while it is the MOST healing & nourishing in our line, it is a richer blend of oils than pure argan, which means apply sparingly. If you have oily/acne-prone skin, I’d actually recommend our pure argan oil instead of the Serum, which is better suited to dryer skin types.

Feel free to email us- info@givingbeauty.com- should you have any questions!

  5. Siobhan says:

Being zit prone and a Kahina regular, I agree with Mairin. I like the oil on its own for all over my face instead of the serum. I also love the eye cream, the toning mist and the cleanser is great for most skin types.

  6. Siobhan says:

Oh and the mask. I also love the mask!

  7. Kahina Team says:

Siobhan brings up a good point… for those “zit prone” of you :), our Cleanser + Toning Mist both have white willow bark- a great natural salicin. Argan oil is anti-inflammatory and soothing, while our Mask is sort of like a deep pore cleanse + manual exfoliant. A great little regimen right there!

  8. Aileen says:

I do have the argan oil, which I like, but I actually have very blemish-prone yet dry-feeling skin (it’s not oily, more “combination/blemish-prone”). Will the serum acutally clog pores or would it work for this? Thank you for your feedback!!

  9. Karla says:

AH! We have been waiting for this deal as well, and just realized you don’t ship to Canada! Is there any way that we can take advantage of this without moving to the US before next Friday?!

  10. Siobhan says:

@Aileen I don’t think it’ll clog your pores but if you have the oil already maybe try something else, like the mist?

  11. Kahina Team says:

Just so everyone knows- if you spend over $50 after promotion, the free Cleanser will be added automatically even though it doesn’t appear in the cart.

  12. Elizabeth says:

So the oil itself: what can I use it for? I’m hoping I can use it as a moisturizer on my face, especially around my eyes, and an eye makeup remover. What do you think?

  13. Lea says:

Yay! Yay! Yay! Love Kahina argan oil, just wish I hadn’t already bought a bottle recently but definitely going to finally try some of the other products now.

  14. Rebecca says:

Elizabeth, definitely can use as you mention (I do), and check out some suggestions on the Kahina blog:

  15. Bellezza says:

I would like to try the products because I used an argan oil shampoo and I really liked how it made my hair feel, but like Karla, I live in Canada. Could it be possible to include Canada to where you ship to? You would already have 2 new clients :)

  16. Moksha says:

I have such acne prone skin that I was having to use benzoyl peroxide to treat it. Since reading the ‘No More Dirty Looks’ book I switched to argan oil mixed with one drop of tea tree oil and my skin is clearer than it ever has been. Also, I have seen a reduction in fine lines. Praise argan!! Because of seeing the results it has had on my skin, my sister and several of my friends have switched over.

  17. O says:

any plans for a Pai or Spirit Beauty Lounge Friday deal? that would be so wonderful!!!!!!

  18. Alyssa says:

    @ O, I second that!

  19. Vi says:

If I have acne-prone skin but also redness and mild scarring from previous acne, what is better to use to heal the redness? The Serum or the pure oil?

Also, anyone know if there are plans to make the cleanser completely vegan? Right now it contains honey. :(

  20. Elizabeth says:

    @O and @Alyssa, I third that! :)

  21. Katie says:

Amazing, amazing products. I won the Argan Oil and have been singing it’s praises ever since. The eye cream is to die for and I’m excited to be ording the toner and mist today!

    1. Great company
    2. Considerate of environment
    3. Helps others
    4. Quality products

This is a company I wish to purchase skincare from. This is the kind of company we should support! Go Kahina!

  22. @Vi We would use the pure argan oil rather than the Serum if you’re acne-prone. The Serum is very healing and helps with discoloration, but it’s also a richer blend of oils.
As for our Cleanser, we’re in the process of reformulating and debuting an Ecocert-certified version, which will *not* have honey. Look for it around August 2011!

  23. @Katie Thank you so much for your kind words. We hope you love the Toning Mist as much as we (and Siobhan!) do!
