Five Foundations We Love, Part 3
Get excited! Part three of our series is here, and this one’s a little different. We’ve already told you about our favorite loose powder and a liquid introduced to us by a makeup artist and makeup maven—now we’re going to tell you about another high-performing foundation that we discovered while we were writing the book.
W3LL People Narcissist Stick Foundation
We first learned of this line more than a year ago, and I instantly fell in love with their peony-pink lip-and-cheek makeup (see comment for details!). I like to just kiss the tube a few times for a rich, layerable and always-flattering blast of color, or I’ll sweep a little on my cheeks and then blend with a finger.
(In case you hadn’t already guessed, we’re both pretty low-maintenance, preferring products we can apply using nature’s best makeup brushes: our digits. The Narcissist is no exception.)
Like the lipstick, I apply it either with a clean finger or by sweeping the tube itself onto my face—under my eyes, down my nose, in the middle of my forehead—and then blending it out gently. The creamy texture mimics the feel of moisturized skin, so it doesn’t create a makeuppy look at all, but thanks to the mineral pigments, the coverage is superb. And the ingredients? Squeaky clean, of course. There’s organic oils, plant extracts, mineral pigment and a little beeswax. It never cakes or slips or smears and offers a glowing, dewy look. As with all naturals, you’ll have to reapply if you’re wearing it all day or all night, but it beats putting silicone on your face, thank you very much.
Oh, and for $38, we’re not sure a better value exists as far as foundation is concerned. This tube lasts forever.
Have you tried any stick foundations you love?

I just started reading your book. This is all new to me. Today is the first day I have used clean products on my hair – I’ve learned I need to find clean styling products. (The aloe vera juice/jojoba oil spray didn’t keep the frizz away, but my hair has never been this soft.)
I live in Austin and was planning on visiting W3ll People this weekend. I am very low maintenance, so I hate reapplying make-up. I like to put it on in the morning and not think about it again until I take it off. I don’t need a foundation especially, but the dark circles under my eyes makes me need SOMETHING. Suggestions?
Oh, and thank you for the book and this site. I have two daughters, ages 8 and 4, who I am switching gradually to all clean products. My hope is that they will be clean and healthy for life!
Just want to say thanks for your great product recs! They’re my fave parts of your blog and book – I much prefer buying something someone I trust loves! Keep up the great work, ladies. (P.S. Are any of your foundation recs better/worse for super sensitive/acne-prone skin?)
I’ve never used a stick foundation; I never realized such a thing existed. Interesting.
Hi – a quick question about the pink lipstick you mentioned here- the link goes to the W3LL site- but not to the specific colors- and the colors on the site are all numbered- do you know which one is the peony pink and which is the true red you mentioned? By the way- I love your book- and I love all the products I’ve switched to so far : )
Thanks!
Cool another person in Austin. Hey would love to know what you find here and what you think of the W3LL.
I like this foundation to.
Amy, give RMS Beauty ‘un’ cover-up a go. It’s a lovely cover-up that’s really good for circles under the eyes, blemishes etc.
Hey Courtney!! The pink is #5 and the true red is #7. Love em both!
Thank you!!
I tried this product several months ago and started getting small bumps where I was mainly applying it. I really like the coverage and how it still manages to look glowy on the skin. Your post prompted me to give it another try. One thing people should know about W3ll People products is that they have a very herbal, tea-tree like scent. I found this to be true of the Narcissist Foundation and Nudist Lip Shine Stick. It’s on the border of being too strong for me, but the products looked great on.
I generally like RMS Uncover-up, although it can be too light/emollient for me to achieve real concealing coverage. My daily foundation is Eco Nvey Moisture Rich Fluid Foundation, which is a perfect balance between a light tinted moisturizer and a medium coverage foundation. I also love Alima powder, either for setting, on its own, or mixed with oil as a foundation.
Love the product recommendations! Your book and blog has had a huge impact on me that goes more than skin deep.
I use Vapor Organic Beauty’s Atmosphere Luminous Foundation. I got the small mini set and loved it so much I bought the full size. This stuff is pretty amazing! I just swipe it on and then use the Jane Iredale sponge to blend it into my skin. I like to put a translucent finishing powder on top just to set it and then I’m pretty much done for the day unless I have a blemish or something that I have to re-cover up throughout the day. Vapour Organic Beauty has a new sample program too so you can just get some samples of different colors for $10 and then I think they send you a coupon to use on a full size.

I really want to try W3LL People but cannot find any guidance as to the color pallets. The website is no help at all. Can anyone guide me to color descriptions so that I can order with confidence? Better yet, as anyone heard of W3LL People being sold in the Atlanta area so that I can try it out in person? Thanks for any help.
Got the w3ll people foundation. The tube is covered with a label that hides the fact that almost the entire tube is empty! For $38, it’s pretty insane. This won’t last a month. I’m really shocked & couldn’t believe when I peeled the label. It’s good foundation, but buyer beware!
