Product Review: Pai Avocado and Jojoba Moisturizer
Sometimes products take a little time to grow on you, while with others it’s love at first touch and smell. From the moment I tried Pai, a clean skincare brand out of London that just came onto our radar, I knew it was a keeper.
Sarah Brown, the company’s founder, came to clean beauty by way of a skin allergy. Fed up with taking antihistamines everyday, she took a closer look at her beauty products instead and discovered that they contained multiple irritants and allergens themselves, not to mention noxious chemicals that can stay in the body. It’s a familiar story now. She quit her day job to work on Pai, which she launched in 2007.
The line is impeccably clean—not a mystery ingredient in sight—and these days I’m really enjoying their Avocado and Jojoba Moisturizer. I’ve never given avocado or jojoba oil much of a chance, and the way it feels on my skin is a little on the richer side of what I’m used to—but in a good way. Like a perfect antidote to dry winter air. I’ve also heard great things about their Chamomile and Rosehip Moisturizer; Natalie Portman even namechecked it as a favorite. Not too shabby.
The line, which is also available at Nubonau, is vegan and certified organic by the UK Soil Association. Added bonus: If you’re used to spendier clean products, it’s pretty darn affordable too. I’m kind of obsessed with this $5 dollar face cloth as well. I don’t quite know how to explain it, but it’s the perfect wash cloth for a clean girl who avoids harsh scrubbing and heavy foaming.
Do you have a favorite moisturizer these days? And had you heard of Pai?

About a year ago I stopped using regular store moisturizer after my skin got funky. I began using jojoba oil and aloe Vera gel. This is cheaper and so far works better than store moisturizer.
I was just thinking this morning after my honey and baking soda face washing time that I really need a mosturizer! I haven’t been really proactive about taking care of my face in the mosturizing area, but my face is really dry right now because of these winter days, but I’d love to try this and see how it works for me!
So exited to hear about Pai from you! I’am currently using Pai Chamomile and Rosehip moisturizer and I absolutely love, love, love it. The best ever! I’ve tried Geranium and Thirstle Moisturizer as well, this one will be super good for spring-summer. I’am obsessed with Pai moisturizers, they are perfect! After your review I’ll pick a face cloth as well.
Haven’t heard of them before but I think I may have to give it a go!
I am using the Evan Healy Whipped Shea Butter at the moment, and at night I mix in a little rosehip oil too.
It doesn’t seem to have lasted very long though so would like to try something different – thanks!
I am trying new products with the end of each product I currently use and haven’t found “the one” that I re-buy. At the end of my current bottle of 100% Pure (I do like it, but don’t *love* it) I’ll have to give this brand a whirl. I do have to ask everyone out there though, I’m finding that natural moisturizers are making my mascara (also 100% Pure-which I love by the way) gives me black eyes like a football player. Any ideas here? I’ve tried putting eye moisturizer only on at night and that sort of helps, but my eyes seem to be calling for more moisture. I tried going without mascara and just had to go back, my eyes just looked too small without. Any suggestions would be fabulous! I love hearing what everyone else uses. Testimonials are better that advertising!
Haven’t heard of Pai but now looking forward to checking out something new. Jill, you could try the Sea Algae Serum by Evan Healy. I use it in the summer to keep my sunscreen out of my eyes, may work also work with your mascara problem and its firming and anti-aging…BONUS!
Ange~Thanks for the info, I will check into Evan Healy. Another something newto check out! Any other suggestions are greatly welcomed.
@noterin: thanks for the awesome suggestion of aloe vera and jojoba oil!!! I am currently using oil of olay with spf 30…and well, I appreciate the suggestion of a cleaner alternative! thanks!!
