Sleep More = Look and Feel Better

Siobhan and I are fairly obsessed with sleep. Facts and studies aside, there’s just not much that a good night’s rest won’t cure. This week I’m offering some tips on how to get more of it in your life over at GOOD. A little preview…

It’s called beauty sleep for a reason. Not only does more of it lead to less stress—which means fewer pimples, slower aging, and more hair on your head—the act itself allows our faces a break from wrinkle-forming scowls and smiles.

While our understanding of sleep is limited, we know a few things for certain: It helps us fight free radical damage, which is good news for skin; a slew of studies have also linked sleep deprivation to obesity, possibly due to an increase in hunger hormones, or maybe a decrease in metabolism. (Either way, the less we sleep, the more calories we consume.)

Read the 10 tips here. Did I miss any?

I knew I went to bed early for a good reason! The girls at work my call me grandma now (I’m only 29) but we’ll see who looks older in 10 yrs from lack of sleep.

How about warm milk or chamomile tea before bed?? These are pleasant things anyway, but do they actually get you snoozing more quickly??

I think so! Also just having a bedtime tea ritual probably helps. Has anyone tried kava tea?
